MOBILE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
On-site quality water production, the containerized water treatment plant produces water “fit for purpose” from resources such as groundwater. It is equipped with 5 water treatment modules for water softening, nitrate reduction, iron and manganese removal, sterilisation and desalination functionality.
The modular treatment components are mounted inside an insulated and airconditioned shipping container. The container has waterproof flooring, insulation on ceiling and walls, doors for personnel access, overhead lighting, air conditioning and heating. For operation in remote locations an optional diesel generator is available.
The 20" containerised plant can be trailer mounted for flexible transportability and rapid installation with low on-site footprint.
Treatment technologies installed in the container include Nanofiltration (NF), Reverse osmosis (RO), Sand Filtration (Multimedia), Ion Exchange (IX) and UV sterilisation. The modular installation allows independent selection of any combination of modules required for a certain application.
The integrated water treatment systems are equipped with computerized control (Siemens S7). Electrical and electronic components are cabinet mounted. Water treatment programs are selected and configured by a touchscreen user interface. A graphical representation is provided for all water treatment processes. Manual overrides are also available for all controlled components.
GRAVEL FILTER
The dual street gravel filter is shown on the right. In the centre of the picture is the grey diffuser unit to oxygenate the water. This plant provides the pre-treatment for all downstream modules.
The two blue pressure vessels contain multibed filtration media to eliminate particulate matter as well as the oxidised forms of iron and manganese ions.
NITRATE REMOVAL
The nitrate selective ion exchange module features two blue pressure vessels holding the ion exchange media. The two street configuration allows for continuous water production. The white brine tank hold the salt brine solution which is required for exhausted ion exchangers.
SOFTENING
The water softening ion exchange module is built to operate in a two-street mode. The picture foreground shows the two blue pressure vessels with the cation exchanger and the regenerant reservoir.
UV STERILISATION
The UV reactor sterilisation system adds the capability to eliminate microbiological growth in the treated water. Dwell times in the UV reactor can be determined by computer control by recirculation from the internal buffer tank B2 .
REVERSE OSMOSIS / NANOFILTRATION
The reverse osmosis unit holds three 8" diameter membrane modules. Reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membrane modules can be installed interchangeably. By way of re-circulating the concentrate this system can be adjusted to minimise wastewater from the plant.
A dosing pump (in orange/grey colour, top left) delivers anti-scaling products, to protect the RO membranes against scale deposits.
