Everything you need to know about hiring a grader
A grader (also known as a road grader or a motor grader), is a construction machine with a long blade used to create a flat surface during the grading process and are used to prepare the base course to create a wide, flat surface for the asphalt to be placed on. Graders are also widely used in the civil engineering industry to finish (grade) the rough grading already provided by the scrapers and bulldozers
What graders can do:
Graders are ideal for the construction and maintenance of dirt roads and gravel roads. Grading machines, mini graders and laser graders are often used for:
- The precise grading of pavement layers
- Road building
- Snow clearing
Types of graders
Graders are available in a range of blade sizes and engine sizes:
- Blade widths of 2.50 metres to 7.30 metres
- Engines from 93 kW to 373 kW (125-500 hp)
Some graders are also equipped with GPS technology for a more precise grade control with 20-30mm vertical accuracy, which increases the graders flexibility.
